2. Make your bequest unrestricted or direct it to a specific purpose.
3. Indicate a specific amount or a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate or trust.

Specific or General Bequest

With a specific or general bequest, you designate The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County to receive a specific dollar amount or specific property in your wills & trusts.

“I give (specific property or $ ________ ) to The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County .”

Residuary Bequest

A residuary bequest is used to give The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County all or a portion or your property, after all debts, taxes, expenses, and all other bequests have been paid.

“I give (all or ____ %) of the (residue of my estate or remaining trust assets) to The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County.”

Restricted Bequest

In your will or trust you may prefer to restrict your bequest for a specific purpose. For example, if you wish to memorialize a family member or special friend, you can establish a legacy fund that will provide support for a program in which you were particularly interested.
